Chippokes Plantation State Park

Chippokes Plantation State Park sits on the edge of the James River in Surry county and is one of the oldest continually farmed plantations in the country (est. 1619).Visitors can tour the antebellum museum and out buildings, walk through the formal gardens, and view antique equipment at the Chippokes Farm and Forestry Museum. The park has four cabins, a campground with water and electric hookups, visitor center with gift shop and an olympic sized pool. Favorite activities include biking, hiking, horseback riding, and picnicking.
